From the visitor center at the highest pass in the park, there is a hike to the Hidden Lake Overlook.  It is a 3 mile hike and at this time of year, almost entirely across snow fields.

This area is pretty well know for the mountain goats.  We came across some including a mother and baby.

Since it was summer, they were still shedding their winter coats so the looked pretty shaggy.

When we got to the overlook, we thought we would see a pretty alpine mountain lake.  Instead we found the lake was still 90% frozen.  In the image below you can see some open water in the middle of the image below the steep cliff, but the lake continues on past the lower right corner.

A 3 mile hike is really no big deal, but walking across the snow made it much harder.  Every step was like a 1/2 step since you seemed to lose half your power forward to the softening snow.

Near the visitor center we spotted a bunch of big horn sheep.

Some were even playing around a little butting horns for fun.
