Heading further south yet, we made a stop at Zion National Park.  We have been here before in November, but is was really to cold to do one of the greatest hikes, up the Narrows.  When we stopped, it was 98 degrees out, so cold would not be a problem in July.

The hike is up the Virgin River bed through a slot canyon sometime up to 500 feet deep.

At times the canyon is only 30-40 feet wide.

The great thing was is that even though it was nearly 100 degrees out, in the canyon it was only in the 80's and you are walking through the cool waters of the river, it was a great was to beat the heat.  We hiked most of the afternoon and into the evening, so by the time we got back to the camper, it was a lot cooler out.

Some places along the way was quick sand.  You slowly sank in and it was pretty hard to get free of the grip and suction.

There are some smaller side canyons you can explore also.

Some of the formations in the walls from the thousands of years of water flow and erosion are pretty amazing.

This area had a weeping wall.  A horizontal crack has water seeping out of it.  They say it takes up to 4000 years for the water to make it from the top of the mountain where it drips into cracks until is seeps out of the rock hundreds of feet below.
