While driving down Highway 93A out of Jasper, you come to a stop where the Whirlpool river joins with the Athabasca River. Here you can really see the different color water the glacial flour makes when you see the 2 shades of green/blue water below where the rivers join.

Below is Athabasca Falls.

You can hike through the slot canyon the falls have created. Here the trail follows a route that used to be where the water flowed and cut through this rock.

This is looking up the slot canyon towards the falls.

The land here is so lush, there is a carpet of vegetation everywhere. The camera has a hard time capturing how lush it really is.

Another black bear sighting not to far from the Whistlers Campground we stayed at in Jasper.

Here is an example of the elk population in the campground we stayed at. They are all over the area. Note how the young ones flip their heads back onto their sides when they sleep.

Below are a few images of the mountain scenes you see while driving down the Icefields Parkway on out way out of the area.

To leave the area we went through the Kootenay National Park and stopped at the Paint Pots. Cold, iron-rich mineral springs bubble up through small pools, staining the earth a deep ochre.

This area was used for stain colors by the natives and then later mined for use in dyes.
