Our next stop was Waterton Lakes National Park in Alberta Canada. Below is a view of Cameron Lake. The shoreline at the other end of the view is the Canada US border. We also did a short hike from here to Akamina Lake.

The national parks in Canada all seem to have a large old style hotel lodging. In Waterton it is the Prince of Wales Hotel.

This is a view down Waterton Lake from the Waterton Town.

In the town of Waterton is Cameron Falls.

On our way back to the campground at the end of the day at Waterton, we were driving along the highway and a smaller grizzly popped out onto the road right in front of us. I had to slam on the brakes and swerve into the other lane to make sure I did not hit it. It quickly jumped back into the ditch and we stopped, backed up and watched it for a bit. It stood up on its hind legs to get a good look at us before running back into the woods.

Day 11
This day was spent traveling from St. Mary to Banff in Alberta. It was not a full day drive so we spent the rest of it looking around the town of Banff and relaxing around the camper. Below is the Fairmont Banff Hotel

Someone suggested we take the Minnewanka Loop drive just outside of the town of Banff. Since it was evening, we though we might see more animals. We did see deer and elk, and then near Two Jack Lake we came across a mountain goat and its baby. The baby had not been through the standard "national park tame animal training course" yet and was very timid around us.

Day 12
The next day we headed up the Bow Valley Parkway and started out by doing the Johnston Canyon hike. This hike winds 2.7 km up a canyon along and often over the creek bed to 2 different falls. Below we are at the lower falls.

There are many cascades along the trail

The upper falls is so nestled into a nook in the canyon, they had made a lookout bridge half way across the creek to get a good look at the falls.
