Our next stop was Fords Theater, where Lincoln was shot by John Booth.

This image shows where the president sad, which is to the side of the stage. John shot him and leaped down to the stage below and hobbled out the back stage door.

In the basement of the theater is a museum about the event. No flash allowed so photos were hard to take. This is the coat the Lincoln was wearing at the time he was shot. People at the time cut the sleeve off and snipped it into small bits in the area that had is blood to keep as souvenirs. The door in the background is the one they used to carry him across the street to a more comfortable house.

This is the house where Lincoln died just across the street from the theater.

Since he was shot in the head, he was brain dead from the beginning, but his heart pumped on until the next morning until 7:22. This is the room and bed where he died.

Another stop we made was the National Cathedral. Another one of the few massive European style cathedrals in the US.
