Next we headed out for the Outer Banks of North Carolina where we visited Kitty Hawk.  This is another exact replica of the plane that made the first powered flight.  We saw 3 total, with 2 here, and one in the Smithsonian.

Before the 4 powered flights were made they made nearly 1000 flights with a glider like the one below.

The Wright Brothers Memorial

Here is where the actual flights took place with the rail track used still in the ground.  Down the walkway are 4 markers for each flight they made that day.

We got to spend some time on the beach of the "other" coast.  Its always weird to see the sun rise over the ocean instead of only set over the ocean.

The Outer Banks has the famous Cape Hatteras Lighthouse.  Hard to believe this was moved 1/4 mile inland a few years ago because the beach was disappearing around it.

Our campsite was right over the dune from the beach.
