The picture below is at the Mammoth Ski lodge. This is, of course, the namesake of where we are.

We bought tickets and took the ski gondola up to the very top of Mammoth Mountain, 11,053 feet. From here you get a great view of the jagged peaks called the Minurets.

Even in mid August there is still a pretty good bank of snow left, and this summer had been one of the warmest in a long time.

Capri made a snow man. Without gloves, she was willing to make it only about 6 inches tall.

This is the Twin Lakes area just outside the main town of Mammoth Lakes. There is a great state park campground split in half by the bridge you can barely see below (the one behind the treetop).

We were above the Twin Lakes along Lake Mary Road, where there are 3 other lakes. In the below picture, we are standing on a little bridge over a spillway that creates a pretty waterfall dropping down to the Twin Lakes.

This image is from the bridge I mentioned that splits the Twin Lake state park campground back to the falls created by the spillway we were standing on in the previous image.
