The area had a lot of borax mining and had many relics to show how some of it was done.

Old Dinah was quite a beast of a machine with 10 foot wheels and a 15 foot tall steam engine. Today my pickup has more power then this beast had.

Next we went to Rhyolite, and old ghost town. There is really not much left there but an artist had left many of his/her works at a property there, pretty neat.

The town was 10,000 people at one time with 3 story buildings. Most building gone, not because of deterioration, but because they were made with rock from the nearby gold mine. When the mine was running out of ore, they figured out the buildings had better quality ore they they could get out of the ground so most were ground up as the people left.

From Rhyolite we drove the Titus Canyon Road. Its an old mining road the goes through some pretty rouged mountains. This road is more or less a 4x4 road.

At Red Pass along the road we drove through some fairly heavy snow fall. The hottest place in North America, and we have snow. Near the end of the road you end up driving through an incredible slot canyon, some places only a few feet wider then the truck.
