Calico is a small "ghost" town in the California high desert near Barstow. It is now a county park and has the town to explore, camping and a small range of hills honeycombed with old mines to explore. The weekend we went was a special event weekend with Civil War re-enactors staying in the town the whole time, doing things from the 1860's and fighting battles.

I can tell Jake is growing up, it was pretty tough to get him to get in this tub for a photo, not long ago, I could not keep him out of there.

Since it was a special event weekend, there were other activities for the kids to do like rope making, or making candles, etc.

Our friend Tim Erickson decided to shop for new head fashion wear. I think he is taking the "Kids at Heart" name of the camping group to seriously.

If you know me, I can't miss an opportunity to get pictures like the next 2 below.

There is a small house who's sides are made entirely of these glass bottles. This is what I call a "green" house.
