Another one of the world class hikes in Zion is called Angels Landing.  Only 2.5 miles each way, but 1500 foot elevation change.  There are a million switchbacks.

This hike is a real leg burner, but I highly recommend it if you are in pretty good shape and are not terribly afraid of heights.  The variety of landscapes along the way as well as the views are truly incredible.

This section is called Walters Wiggle.  To get a path up this area they had to build a series of switchbacks that is like climbing stairs.

6 people have fallen to their deaths on this hike since 1983.  A 1500 foot fall is not good for your health, but the view would be inspiring on the way down.

The last 1/2 mile is along a razors edge with 1500 foot drop offs down both sides.  It is steep and rugged enough that there are chains to grip along much of the way.  In some spots they had to chip foot and hand holds into the steep rocks.

There is a thin black line at the base of the cliff across the valley in the following image.  That is the main road through the valley.  In fact there is a white dot slightly above the brush that is next to me and that is a car on the road, that is how high we are at this point and we are not at the top yet.
